I remember there were so many horse books about black horses growing up. Black Beauty, the Black Stallion, maybe that is why I like Percherons and was always in awe of the horses the RCMP officers ride.
This summer we were lucky enough to have the RCMP Musical Ride stop in Bridgewater for a couple shows at the South Shore Exhibition grounds.
Pretty amazing to see the precision and skill of the riders, but even more impressive, the horses. These animals are bred special for the RCMP Musical Ride and you could own one!

I helped with the announcing on the second night and while the show was under way I was able to ask a few questions. The officer I was working with told me that the average age of the horses in the ride was around 13 years old and that there were younger horses being trained for the show.
Did you ever wonder what happens to the retired RCMP Musical Ride horses? I have always thought these would be the perfect horses to own.
