Spring weight restriction are in effect on some roads around the province.
While school buses fall below that restriction, road conditions also play a factor.
The large amount of snow that fell last week combined with the heavy rainfall this past weekend is making some roads impassable for buses.
“We have some roads where our buses are sinking down to the rear axles and having to be tugged out. And we want to avoid that at all costs.”
Crouse says their primary concern is student safety.
“It’s not safe for them to be on, especially in the bumpy and the muddy conditions. And some roads are washed out to the point that we are unable to travel them.”
Crouse says they try to inform people of any changes to bus routes the night before they happen.
She advises people to listen for radio reports or to check the board’s website and twitter accounts for updates.
