Nova Scotians Speak Out Against Judge’s Decision In A Taxi Assault Case

Social media is flooding with outrage after a Halifax cab driver was acquitted of raping a woman who was found by police passed out drunk in his car.

Comments made by the judge during his decision are causing many people to write in and complain.

Co-coordinator at Sexual Assault Services Lunenburg Queens Dianne Crowell says this is exactly what’s wrong with the current justice system.

“It definitely puts a shining light to the fact that women who are victims of sexual assault don’t come forward, and this is the reason why.”

Crowell says she’d like to see mandatory training put in place for all front line members of the justice system.

It’s idea already being called for by interim leader of the federal conservative party, Rona Ambros.

On online petition calling for Justice Lenehan to be removed from the bench has over 21,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.
