WATCH: Alan Doyle Teams Up With Tim Hicks For “The Night Patty Murphy Died”!!

Now if you haven’t been to a party…wedding…dance, where this song has been played at full volume…you haven’t lived. It’s a staple for any Kitchen party.

“The Night Pat Murphy Died” is such a classic Newfoundland folk song!! The version I know best is the 1997 version done by Great Big Sea. I know every single word.

But get ready for it……a new recording was just released today, by Alan Doyle (from Great Big Sea), and Tim Hicks. It’s called “The Night Patty Murphy Died”, and they wanted to release it just in time for St.Patrick’s Day. It’s of course inspired by the 1997 version, but Tim and Alan wanted to showcase a bit of Tim’s edger side while keeping it “East Coast” aka: Folkie.

Here you go!! Check it out and let me know what you think over on our facebook page.

Also don’t forget…if you love East Coast/Maritime Music, Jonathan Crouse hosts “The Kitchen Party, Saturday nights at 10pm.
