Have you downloaded the Health Canada Covid Alert app yet? It’s a new app that was launched 3 days ago and its effectiveness all relies on people using it…well…so far so good…3 million people have already downloaded it.
So what’s this App all about?
It’s designed to tell you if anyone has contacted Covid-19 near you. It uses Bluetooth signals and exchanges random codes with nearby phones that are changed every five minutes. This will tell you if you have come into close contact in the last 14 days with someone who tested positive. The catch is, it’s only if that person has also downloaded the app. That’s why….the more people that download the app…the better.
Currently, the app is only active in Ontario, but we can download it now. They will let us know when we can start sharing info.
Oh and they are saying there won’t be any privacy issues…because the app has no way of knowing your location, name or address.
