So this is pretty Epic!!! Our Maritime Bubble Buddy, Prince Edward Island has a National park that is now been named on Mars!!
The 45-kilometre wide Jezero crater, is where the Perseverance rover will land on Mars, as part of the Mars 2020 mission.
They believe the crater use to be filled with water and they want to find out more about the area. How it was formed, if there was past life…that sort of deal!
Peter Willis is an investigative scientist for the new rover’s SuperCam instrument and they plan on naming each part of the crater after a national park.
Peter just so happens to be from PEI, and has chosen a section to be named “Prince Edward Island National Park.” It’s not just his home, but he also said it makes sense with Mars and PEI having some similar mineralogical aspects…Aka: RED SAND!!!
Depending on if the rover moves through “Prince Edward Island National Park.” on Mars, they may even add a few more PEI names.
Pretty Cool!! No we just have to wait and see where the Rover lands and what it finds.
