Meet The 9 Nova Scotian Athletes That Will Be Competing At The Tokyo Olympics!!!

The Tokyo Olympics kick off July 20th.

Things may look a bit different than they originally planned. Due to Covid-19 and a surge of cases in Tokyo Japan, they have announced their fourth state of emergency. It’s looking like they may not allow spectators in the Olympic venues. (More details on that this afternoon).

With that said, I’m sure most of us were planning on cheering on our Canadian athletes from the comfort of our own homes. We even have a couple South Shore athletes representing this year!!!

So who are the Nova Scotians competing in this years Tokyo Olympics?

Sarah Mitton of Brooklyn (Athletics)

Jacob Saunders of Chester (Sailing)

Ellie Black of Halifax (Gymnastics – Artistic)

Mark de Jonge of Halifax (Canoe-Kayak – Sprint)

Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu of New Glasgow (Equestrian – Dressage)

Connor Fitzpatrick of Dartmouth (Canoe-Kayak – Sprint)

Sydney Pickrem of Halifax (Swimming)

Michelle Russell of Fall River (Canoe-Kayak – Sprint)
