Visitor Restriction Lifted At Bridgewater Hospital

People with loved ones at the in-patient unit on the fourth floor of South Shore Regional Hospital are now allowed to come visit. For more than a week Nova Scotia Health Authority has been asking friends and family to keep their distance. Infection Control Practitioner Elizabeth Watson says the influenza outbreak in the fourth floor in-patient unit has mostly cleared up. However, she says shortly after they lifted the restriction a new case was reported. “At this time we do not feel like we’re in a new outbreak situation,” she says, “but we will continue to monitor the situation carefully.” Watson says they’ll still allow visitors but will ask people to take precautions like hand washing and using face masks. She says if more cases are reported the unit may become off limits again.
