Farley Mowat’s Owner Faces Fines And Jail Time If Vessel Not Removed

The owner of the Farley Mowat faces fines and jail time if the derelict vessel is not removed.

Tracey Dodds was in Federal Court in Halifax after missing a deadline to remove the vessel.

Shelburne’s chief administrative officer, Dylan Heide says the vessel is occupying berthage at the terminal and there’s worry it may sink again causing some safety concerns.

“I would say, not a week goes without some resident expressing concern to the port or the town with regards to safety,” said Heide.

Heide says the owner faces contempt of court charges if the vessel is not removed by the April 8th deadline.
