I remember when PBR used to come to Halifax, but that has not happened for a number of years.
The Nova Scotia Stampede was a great event from what I heard and the pictures I saw. I was looking forward to trying to get to be there this year, but that won’t happen.
This is a sad announcement for rodeo fans that are not planning any western travel this year.

After careful consideration, the Board of the Rath Eastlink Community Centre (RECC), in consultation with senior management from the RECC, has made the difficult decision not to proceed with the Nova Scotia Stampede in 2026.

Looks like the action at the Big Ex and other local exhibitions will be what we get for local rodeo events this year, so make plans to catch it!
PBR is not coming east of Ontario this season and I have not found any other roping events planned, so here are a few events to look forward to for a local rodeo fix. They have horses and livestock.
Ride For The Ribbon – 11th annual June 27, 28 at the South Shore exhibition grounds in Bridgewater. Ride for the Ribbon brings together riders, families, and the community for a 2-day light horse fun show in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Big Ex – Jul 27-Aug2 – The South Shore Exhibition, Nova Scotia’s largest Agricultural Exhibition since 1891 www.thebigex.com
Queens County Fair – The Queens County Fair remains a genuine Agricultural Fair held after Fall Harvest since the first Ex in 1886.
Shelburne County Exhibition – Aug 11-16
New Ross Community Fair – August 21st & 22nd 2026
Nova Scotia 4-H Provincial Show – October 2–4, 2026, at the South Shore Exhibition Grounds in Bridgewater. Features livestock competitions, a market show, and a fashion show, say 4-H Nova Scotia.
