Canada Post says no more mailbox deliveries starting this fall

Canada Post has announced it’s moving ahead with a plan to end traditional door-to-door home mail delivery across the country this fall, replacing it with community mailboxes. This means letter mail and small parcels will be delivered to a community mailbox near your street instead of right to a mailbox at your house.

This change will impact about 4 million addressess that still get mail in a traditional mailbox at the end of their driveway. Canada Post says there will be accommodations for people with mobility challenges who might have difficulty accessing the community boxes.

The reason for the change comes down to money, it costs much less to deliver to community boxes rather than individual mailboxes.
