The time of year is here, things are “springing” to life. The grass is starting to green up, the peepers are peeping and the birds are starting to return and become more active. Question is, are YOU Watching?
I wish I knew what type of birds I am looking at. I can barely tell the difference between an owl and a hummingbird, well maybe not THAT bad, but my knowledge is very limited. I know bald eagles have white heads and chimney swifts are often found in the furnace when I first light a fire in the fall.
There is a group of folks that can help if you are wanting to become more in tune with the local bird watching scene.

You can also join up with their Facebook page: Nova Scotia Bird Society
So where is the best place to start if you are wanting to see birds? I would recommend looking up and since today is “Look Up at the Sky Day“, it is the perfect time to start.
If you are not seeing many birds, you may want to take a trip out of town, or hike a trail to search for some feathered friends.
Here are some of the suggested trails to hike if you are wanting to do some bird watching.

Here is a bit more on what the Birdathon does. Happy bird watching, I hope you see a lot fly by and nothing falls on you as you watch, haha.
