Hazel Margaret Coolen (Barnes)

Born December 19, 1942 in Halifax, she passed away in Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility, Halifax, April 17,2026.

She is survived by her son, Michael Coolen (Tina Foster), sister Linda Fenton, her loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Wayne A Coolen, parents Donald and Helen Barnes, and her Brother Eric Barnes.

She spent her working career and created many frienships during her tenure with the University of Kings College in her role as the assistant to the director. Hazel enjoyed ‘the cottage’ which included friends and family. Her Laughter will be missed by many.

Burial will take place at a later date with a small graveside service. Arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
