Died suddenly on Friday April 17, 2026 at the age of 85.  David of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Streetsville (Mississauga), beloved husband of over 58 years to Barbara (nee Ward).  Loving and devoted father of Deidre (Michael Garrison), Hilary (Hugo Simoes) and the late Adam (2003).  Cherished grandfather of Christine Scovell (Shondel Downey), Jordan Koens (Eve) and Mackenzie Koens, and great-grandfather of Kassidy Downey.  Dear brother of Peter (Sharon) and Mary (Jim McGregor).  David will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, his many friends and neighbours.

He was a native of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.  His indelible years were spent along the South Shore of Nova Scotia, a place that was always home even after he came to Ontario.  He maintained the family cottage on the LaHave River until September 2025, cherishing his family history and ancestry.  Here he hosted family reunions and gatherings, making and serving traditional Tea Berry or Grape Nut ice cream to family and friends, and enjoying time he spent on the water.

David was a hard-working, kind, helpful and easy-going man who could also be direct, having little time for nonsense.  His professional life was spent with numbers, a skilled accountant for enterprises and later in life a private practice.  His home life was spent working with his hands, skillfully crafting items from wood – clocks, furniture, kayaks, canoes and other water vessels, making great wine, delicious meals, listening to classical music and spending time with those he loved.

He will be deeply missed.
