Janet Adelia Russell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Adelia Russell, most recently of Harbour View Haven in Lunenburg, on April 22, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on August 6, 1948, in North River, Nova Scotia, Janet was the daughter of the late Marjorie and Ernest Robar. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eric Russell, as well as her siblings Arnold Robar and Elaine Langille.

Janet will be lovingly remembered by her children: Patricia (Joe) Barry of Simpsons Corner, Norma (Jason) Doyle of East Dalhousie, Steven Russell of Bridgewater, and Denice Russell of Bridgewater. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Angie (Jonathan) Wamback of Maitland, Katie Hebb of Halifax, and Derrick Doyle of East Dalhousie.

Great-Grandson, Eric Wentzell of Halifax.

She is survived by her siblings Audrey Sarty of Bridgewater, Erna Sarty of Rosedale Home in New Germany, and Jerry Robar of Cherryfield.

Janet dedicated much of her life to raising her four children and took great pride in being a neat and caring homemaker. She also worked at the hospital in the Valley and at the Wandlyn, as well as Morton’s egg farm in Barss Corner, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Known for her kindness and sense of humor, Janet brought warmth and laughter to those around her. In her later years, she lived with dementia, a condition that ultimately claimed her life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Harbour View Haven for the compassionate care they provided to Janet during the final years of her life.

Janet found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, tending to her garden, watching hummingbirds, and listening to music.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

By personal request, there will be no service or visitation held. Donations can be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Kidney Foundation.
