New student housing at N.S. Gaelic college in Cape Breton

A major milestone in Mabou, Cape Breton with new student housing at Beinn Mhabu, the satellite campus of Nova Scotia’s Gaelic College, Colaisde na Gàidhlig.

The province says the two-storey residence has 24 modern units for students and seasonal workers during the summer.

Each has a kitchenette and three-piece bathroom with shared laundry on site.

“Today marks an exciting step forward for students and for the community of Mabou,” said Brendan Maguire, Minister of Advanced Education. “These new units will provide safe, modern accommodations while helping ensure that more learners can access the unique programming offered by the Gaelic College.”

Nova Scotia contributed $3 million, with the total cost was nearly $5 million.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting event was Friday.
