Bridgewater Library Ready For Spring

Despite bitter temperatures spring is only a week away.

The Bridgewater Library is ready to help gardeners get a jump on spring planting.

Branch Coordinator Katherine Sharp says the Seed Library is a great resource to get locally sourced seeds.

“The library in itself is really just a wonderful hub of the community and it’s a great place for people to learn about something new that maybe they haven’t tried before. So I think that’s a little bit different than just going to a story and picking up seeds.”

Sharp says if you’ve never used it before the concept is simple.

“Well ‘Seed Library’ kind of gives it away a bit. The place where patrons can come in and borrow seeds, take them home and plant them.”

Sharp says the key is to save some of the seeds and bring them back to the Library in the fall. The Seed Library is in its third year .

Sharp says this year there is a focus on education.

She says people can stop by any time to learn about the best ways to plant and preserve their seeds.
