High winds overnight have knocked out power to more than 20,000 homes across Nova Scotia.
As of 5:00am, approximately 3,000 of those are in the South Shore between Chester and Yarmouth.
Nova Scotia Power opened its Emergency Operations Centre at 11:30pm last night to co-ordinate efforts throughout the province.
And crews have been working to restore electricity to homes since the storm began.
Nova Scotia Power says the main cause of the outages is trees falling on to power lines.
The utility says they will be updating their outage map online as restoration efforts continue.
