Lunenburg Town Council and Councillor Brian Davis appear to have reached an understanding.
During an in-camera session on Tuesday, council agreed to reinstate councillor Davis to the General Government and Audit Committees.
Davis had argued his removal from those two committees would impede his ability to represent his constituents as councillor.

Those committees are where finances are discussed*.
Davis argued not being a part of them prohibits him from fulfilling his duties as a councillor.
He credits the lawyers for both sides with finding a solution.
“They worked very diligently on bringing this to a resolution without proceeding with a judicial review.”
While, for now, he still won’t be returned to the other committees he had been appointed to, Davis says he’s pleased with how things have turned out.
“I’m so happy to be back on those and go forward from here.”
Davis says council can now set their sights on producing budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.

*An earlier version of this story stated budget decisions are made in the two committees. In fact, General Government deals with the grant portion of the budget while the Audit Committee deals with finances but has almost nothing to do with the budget process or decisions.
