Trial Date Set For Accused Killer of Linnea Veinotte

A trial date has been set for a Grenada man accused of killing a former Lunenburg resident.

Akim Frank faces a charge of non-capital murder in the death of Linnea Veinotte.

He has pleaded not guilty and a trial will begin November 21.

Veinotte was walking with her dog when she was struck by a vehicle on December 6, 2015 in the country’s capital city of St. George.

Frank turned himself into police six days later and has remained in custody since.

Veinotte’s sister in-law, Chasidy Veinotte-Dorey, issued this statement after learning about the court appearance:

“Finding closure has been very difficult while we wait for the court proceedings to take place. It’s still just as horrifying as the day we found out that another person’s actions took her innocent life. The shock of losing someone under these circumstances took hold immediately and has left a lasting effect. While there is a legal system in place, there is not necessarily a justice system as the only justice we want is to have Linnea back.”

A person convicted of non-capital murder in Grenada could be sentenced to life in prison.
