A survey of several thousand high school students found young people think the federal budget should be balanced no matter the cost.
CIVIX, a charity focused on educating youth about Canada’s political system asked students from across the country what they think should be federal priorities.
Director Dan Allan says they saw a contradiction in answers this year they haven’t seen before.
“Students want government debt limited but also kind of want investments in key areas.”
Allan says top of mind are education and health care.
He says the results of the survey were sent to the department of finance last week in hopes it will influence spending over the next few years.
