The Federal Government is helping aboriginals celebrate an annual event. Ottawa is providing $13,000 to the Acadia First Nation to help them organize the 30th edition of the Gold River Pow Wow. The event offers activities including traditional dancing, drumming and a smudging ceremony. Workshops and demonstrations will highlight Mi’kmaq culture. The Acadia First Nation is made up of five Mi’kmaq reserves including Gold River, Medway, Ponhook Lake, Wildcat and Yarmouth. The Acadia First Nation will present its annual Pow Wow from September 12 until 14. About 3,000 people are expected to attend.
