Nashville Bits & Bytes

This morning we start with Ella Langley and ‘Choosin’ Texas’. This tune is at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for its 11th week. The song is rewriting records for country hits by women as this is the 6th time for Ella’s tune to hit #1 on the Hot 100.

Thomas Rhett’s dad, Rhett Akins, will become a member of the Grand Ole Opry later this year. Jon Pardi extended the invitation during a special “Opry Celebrates ’90s Country” show on Sunday. Rhett is a force in the County Music world. He recorded two number ones, and wrote 36 more for other artists, including ‘Dirt on My Boots’ for Jon Pardi.

There were more than 80,000 fans at Alan Jackson’s final show on Saturday in Nashville. The sold-out crowd at Nissan Stadium was just some of these fans. There were watch parties on Broadway, at Belmont University and at the Country Music Hall of Fame. For those of us that missed it, we will have to wait, but in December the chance to experience this incredible event will come with a live album and a TV special.

New music this morning. Justin Fancy, hailing from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, he has quickly carved out a place for himself as one of Canada’s most promising voices and songwriters in country music today. Since the release of his debut single in 2020, Justin has captivated audiences with heartfelt storytelling, east coast authenticity, and a sound that blends classic country roots with a fresh, modern edge.
Now we get a new tune from Justin Fancy called “I’ve Got A Keg”. A taste of it this morning as we will hear the whole tune this Sunday with the “Kitchen Party” on Country 100.7.
