Hundreds of people in the Barrington area put on their walking shoes over the weekend to raise money for the care of those afflicted by cancer. It was the annual Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund’s “Walk For A Cause”. Founder Shelley d’Eon says despite numerous other competing events, the community produced a large amount of money during the walk. She says: “Our total was higher. People seemed to enjoy the fact that we did it in an afternoon instead of an evening after work. So, everything went very smoothly, which I was very impressed by.” $62,000. was raised and d’Eon says about half a million dollars has been raised since the walk began 8 years ago.
