If you’re a romance book lover, you’ve probably got The Love Hypothesis release date in your calendar! The movie adaptation releases on Prime Video on Wednesday, Sept. 23. This film is based on the New York Times bestseller The Love Hypothesis, written by Ali Hazelwood.
Lili Reinhart plays Olive, a Ph.D. candidate who ends up in a fake relationship with a stern professor, Adam Carlsen (Tom Bateman), after a spontaneous smooch. What initially was set up to be a mutually beneficial arrangement soon turns into something more real. Rachel Marsh and Nicholas Duvernay will play Olive’s best friend, Anh, and her crush, Jeremy, respectively.
I haven’t had a chance to explore Hazelwood’s entire catalog, but I did get to read this one. The build-up and character development are very much worth the read, so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to watching it. It’s a mishmash of fake dating, slow-burn, and opposites-attract tropes.
Two other adaptations based on Hazelwood’s novels are also underway. A film adaptation of Deep End is in development at Netflix, while Love, Theoretically is being adapted for Prime Video.
So, will you be watching The Love Hypothesis at home, snuggled up in your blanket with a bucket of popcorn?
