Yacht Club Gets A Lift From Province

The province has floated some cash to the Lunenburg Yacht Club.

The $150,000 comes from Nova Scotia’s Culture Action Plan.

The club will put the money towards a new launch ramp and crane to move boats in and out of the water.

Lunenburg MLA Suzanne Lohnes-Croft says the funding will be put to use almost immediately.

“They are hosting two major events in September that are international and they really need this infrastructure so they can carry out an event such as this.”

Lohnes-Croft says the investment will help also the club in a number of other ways.

“It certainly is for the long term and it will also help with their day to day operations, but really it’s to improve their sailing program and be more competitive nationally and internationally.”

Lohnes-Croft says the upgrades will allow the club to host more high-profile sailing events that will benefit not only the club, but the local tourism industry as well.
