Bridgewater reviewing civic addressing at dog park after emergency

The Town of Bridgewater is reviewing the civic addressing situation at its off-leash dog park after concerns were raised following a medical emergency at the site.

The dog park is located in a wooded area behind HB Studios within the Glen Allan Park property and does not have a civic address specifically identifying the dog park.

A town spokesperson confirmed to Acadia News that officials have been made aware of concerns surrounding the location and are completing a review.

The issue was raised after a medical emergency at the park Sunday.

According to an account provided to Acadia News by someone familiar with the incident, a person calling 911 had difficulty explaining the exact location of the dog park to the dispatcher.

The person who contacted Acadia News said the concern is that the lack of a clearly identified civic address could make it more difficult for emergency crews to locate the park during future calls.

The tipster said emergency crews ultimately responded to the scene and also stressed that a separate civic address would not have changed the outcome of Sunday’s emergency.

Their concern is instead focused on whether clearer signage and addressing could improve emergency response in the future.

The dog park is accessed through the larger Glen Allan Park area and is set back from surrounding roads and buildings.

The town has not indicated what changes, if any, could result from its review.

Acadia News has asked the town for additional information about how the property is currently addressed and whether a separate civic number or additional emergency-location signage could be considered.
