New Department Of Transportation Garage Coming For Bridgewater

An investment of just under $4.5 million is going to help keep plows and salt trucks on the roads on the South Shore.

The department of transportation garage on Jubilee Road in Bridgewater is being replaced by a bigger more advanced model.

Glen Manthorne manages the 210 unit fleet.

He says this will make a huge difference in how quickly they can fix broken down equipment.

“That does have an effect. People living out in outlaying communities might not get their road plowed. It might take us four or five hours to get there because we’ve been in here all night scrambling to fix a truck.”

The new garage will feature six drive through bays, an over head crane, and a dedicated welding bay.

The build is expected to be complete by September 2018.
