Stephen Hughie Hamm

Stephen Hughie Hamm, 72, of Lower Northfield, born January 22, 1954, in Brantford, Ontario, passed peacefully on the beautiful morning of October 28, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

The son and last surviving family member of the late Feldon and Mary (Sewek) Hamm, he returned with them to Nova Scotia and finished school at Centre Consolidated. He later travelled extensively and lived just about everywhere across Canada, eventually returning to the place he felt was home to care for his mother.

He had many jobs over the years, working with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation, as an orderly at various hospitals across Canada, and finally as a driver for a funeral home in Halifax, helping bring those who had passed to their final resting place.

Steve cared for everyone he let into his life, especially during this last year when his health began to fail. The friends he made over the years and kept close will miss him. His closest friend, Mark Stewart (Hebbs Cross), felt like family and was there every day to help, even when Steve wished he could do more to help Mark.

A special thank you to Dr. Kuznetsov and the entire 4th floor team for everything in his final days.

In keeping with Steve’s wishes, arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services. Interment will take place privately at a later date, when he rejoins his parents in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay.

Donations in his honour may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or the Nova Scotia Red Cross.

See you again someday, Steve. We’ll raise all the hell we can, from here and then.
