Osprey Ridge President Aspires To Offer More Than Golf To Public

A golf course near Bridgewater is looking to become more than a place for people to tee it up.

This is President Bill Sampson’s first full year of operating Osprey Ridge Golf Club after it was purchased in 2016 from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.

Many changes have happened at the course including interior and exterior upgrades to the clubhouse.

Sampson says his next goal is improve food and beverage service.

“We plan to bring up the quality of the food with a new chef and we also felt last year that it needed more zap or speed and quality of food.”

Sampson says people don’t need to be members to enjoy their food.

Renovations have also been done to the kitchen, washrooms and locker room area.

There is also new furniture, a large banquet room and Sampson says it’s part of a shift to make their restaurant the place to visit in the area.

There are about 250 members so far but Sampson expects that number to rise as the weather gets better.

Membership rates have gone up at Osprey Ridge Golf Club.

Sampson says there is an increase of roughly 30 percent to certain fees.

He says it was a necessary evil to do.

“Just to keep the golf course operational properly but the membership seem to be okay with the changes. They knew that it was coming and they accepted it.”

He’s hoping to open the golf course as early as next week but it will depend on the weather.
