The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is calling on municipal governments for help. The group is looking for resolutions to try and reverse Canada Post’s plan to change the public postal service. The corporation is eliminating door-to-door delivery, closing and downsizing post offices and reducing hours. Eastern Coordinator of the ‘Save Canada Post’ campaign, George Nickerson, feels it’s nothing but bad news. He says, “Incredible amounts of job losses right across the country and not only that but the service that customers come to expect is going to be totally dismantled, especially for seniors and those with disabilities.” The federal government has endorsed Canada Posts’ move. Over 90 municipalities have approved resolutions opposing the cuts.
