The new provincial budget will be released on April 19th.
The announcement came as part of a pre-budget speech by Finance Minister Randy Delorey this afternoon.
Delorey says we can expect to see spending on business, education, and job creation.
He says an investment in recent graduates will keep more young people from moving away to find work.
“We will invest $3.2 million in the Graduate Opportunity Program,” he says, “because it means more of our sons and daughters will be able to live and work here at home.”
However, he warns frivolous spending isn’t in the cards.
“We can not stop being responsible financial managers. If we fail to protect our provinces finances we will not be able to lay the foundation for future economic long-term growth.”
Delorey says over-spending in the past didn’t solve the problems facing Nova Scotians.
He says they want to make smart investment that will create growth.
