South Shore Housing Sales Off To Strong Start In 2016

Housing sales are up for the first three months of this year.

The Nova Scotia Association of Realtors says 143 homes were sold between January and March on the South Shore.

That’s a 13.5 percent increase from last year.

It’s the third highest jump behind the Annapolis Valley and Northern Nova Scotia.

President-elect, Anne Da Silva, says house sales are shifting back to a balanced market.

“We have never been a province of extremes and we’re very quickly shifting back to that, which is, I think, positive for all people because buyers are going to get fair value and sellers are going to get fair value from the sale of their home.”

Da Silva believes weather was an important factor, helping sales increase from 2015.

The South Shore was slightly above the Nova Scotia average for the number of homes sold.

The average sale price for a home in the South Shore is just over $171-thousand, well below the provincial average.
