West Clifford Couple Fed Up With Abandoned Cats

A West Clifford couple say they’re fed up with people abandoning cats on their property.

Over the past few years they’ve had around 15 abandoned cats on their property.

“Every year, about this time of year, we get these drop off cats, where people, I think they drive out from the city or Bridgewater … and think ‘oh look, farmlands, barns, this would be a land of milk and honey,’” says Paul Napthine.

He and his wife went to Kijiji to look for the feline’s owner and post an angry rebuke.

Napthine says catching and rehoming the cats is not only a nuisance but dangerous to his other animals.

“Some time ago we brought in a stray and all our other cats got infected with the Calicivirus.”

That cost the couple around $4,000.

His own cats were strays the couple found abandoned in their barn.

The Napthines want to see the cat adopted by someone without other pets but ultimately it may need to be euthanized.
