Still Many Without Power In Tri-Counties And South Shore This Afternoon

The numbers continue to fall, but as of 12:45 Wednesday afternoon 5874 Nova Scotians remain without power according to Nova Scotia Power’s outage map.

There were 681 active outages, most in Shelburne County and the South Shore.

Nova Scotia Power says it has over 700 frontline and support staff working to restore service to its customers after the Christmas Day storm.

Spokesperson Tiffany Chase says damage to utility poles, transmission lines and equipment was significant.

“We did see some of the highest winds gusts along the South Shore area. That has certainly caused a lot of trees to fall on lines taking lines down and snapping them. We continue with those efforts to safely restore power to those customers and quickly as we can.”

Chase says the winds were so strong in some areas mature trees were completing uprooted.

She says customers can get their latest Estimated Time of Restoration by checking outagemap.nspower.ca or by calling NSP at 1-877-428-6004.
