Bridgewater Teen Gets Bronze At Junior Pairs At Nationals

Bridgewater’s Gabrielle Levesque won bronze in junior pairs at Nationals last week.

The 15 year old was in Vancouver with her partner from Quebec.

Levesque says she wasn’t nervous going into their routine.

But she says she didn’t go into the competition expecting to place.

“I was a bit surprised because I didn’t think we would do that well,” she says.

“But I was really happy to because we worked so hard.”

Levesque says their lifts are their strongest element.

But she says her favourite part is just being on the ice.

“When I skate I just kind of forget about everything else and I don’t get so stressed and stuff.”

Levesque started skating when she was three years old.

She says her next goal is to get to Junior Worlds and when she is older focus on the Olympics.

Levesque and her partner Pier-Alexandre Hudon competed in a short and long program.

Now that Nationals in over, Levesque says they’ll take a short break and then start training for next season.
