Explore The Shore Aims To Build And Promote Small Businesses In The Area

Explore The Shore is hoping to get more tourists to do just that.

The business is made up of a students grade 10 to 12 trying to promote small, local businesses and destinations.

President Adam Strickland says local shops and restaurants in the area are very unique and deserve more recognition.

He says they’ll use social media to list businesses along with their descriptions, locations and websites.

“They visit the business, they take a picture to post on social media [and] it creates a snowball effect,” he says.

“For both our company and the business that they visited because they have to tag both our company and the business to be able to enter into a draw to win prizes.”

Prizes will range from local store or restaurant gift cards to T-Shirt from Explore the Shore’s clothing line.

But Strickland says a lot of small businesses don’t have the funds to properly advertise.

He says they’re hoping to get municipal funding to expand their resources.

“The less that we can charge the businesses, the more businesses we can get on to make our company more valuable and our campaign more valuable,” he says.

“And also it’s just easier for the businesses.”

Strickland says this is aimed at people from across the province, but they’re also hoping to gain more tourism.
