Recent damage to Shelburne’s community centre and parts of its waterfront will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

High winds and storm surge affected some infrastructure along the town’s waterfront and there was substantial damage done to the roof of the community centre and fire hall.

Dylan Heide, the CAO for the town of Shelburne says they are working with the town’s insurance company.

“With regards to the community centre, the temporary roof repair and just getting the building safe for the next few months certainly is going to exceed $100,000. We’re expecting quite a bit higher cost for the eventual permanent repair. Probably we’ll be putting out a tender for that work in the next month or two.”

He says they are still assessing the waterfront damage.
