Clark’s Harbour: Little Impact Felt From Yarmouth Ferry

The first season of the Yarmouth to Maine ferry spiked tourism numbers for the province.

But, it didn’t help Clark’s Harbour that much.

Mayor Leigh Stoddart says most of their tourism numbers were generated from elsewhere in the country.

He says, “Some come this way, but we haven’t seen a great influx of Americans. In fact, we’re getting more Canadians than ever before from Ontario, Quebec and other provinces. But you know, the ferry has been a one year thing so far, so it’s going to take time for that to ramp up.”

Stoddart says the ferry is more beneficial to Yarmouth and other destinations in the province.

He believes its a good service to help create local jobs and stimulate the economy.
