A Chester golfer is taking her long drive and short game to the United States.
Allison Chandler has accepted an athletic and academic scholarship to play golf at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina.
It is an NCAA Division 1 school.
Chandler says she’s excited about the opportunity.
“I know I’ve worked hard and my family has made quite a few sacrifices for myself and my two brothers also to play golf and I’ve had a ton of support from my home club and I’m just really grateful.”
The 18 year-old received offers from four other schools, but chose to become a member of the bulldogs.
“As soon as I got to the campus, I just had a really great feeling. I met the coach and knew that it was the right place for me.”
Chandler says she’s been working hard to improve her short game and is excited to be a part of a team.
She will compete locally this summer before heading to university in August.
