Animal shelters from Cape Breton to Yarmouth will now be operating as one organization.
The Nova Scotia SPCA announced eleven branches will merge in an effort to spread resources across the province.
Prior to the merger, the branches operated on their own financially.
SPCA spokesperson Courtney Zylstra says the merger will improve fundraising and animal care.
“With the branches working closely together, we’re able to transport animals throughout the province and ensure that’s there’s a better chance for them for adoption.”
The merger comes on the heels of new rebranding for the organization.
Zylstra says when the merger is complete, they will work on improving branch facilities.
