Library Identified As Possible Tenant For Liverpool Courthouse

A potential suitor could be in the works for the vacant Liverpool courthouse.

The Region of Queens is hiring Architecture 49 to conduct a feasibility study at a cost of over $12,000.

It costs the municipality about $52,000 a year to lease the space from the Rossignol Cultural Centre.

Mayor Christopher Clarke says if the library moves in, they would save about $29,000.

“We still have the expenses on the courthouse but we have those in any case; keeping it cleaning, etc. So. there is a cash saving if we move the library.”

The study will determine if the old courthouse is suitable for a library.

Clarke expects the study will take between a month and six weeks.
