Fort Mac Evacuation Hits Home For Saint John Family

The shocking escalation of a wildfire in Alberta is being felt in Saint John.

Bob Bonner has two kids living in Fort McMurray where a mandatory evacuation was issued. Bonner tells us the turning point came when the wind changed direction about 4pm Alberta time.

He says it started to jump a highway and both sides of it were burning.

His daughter Kendra grabbed a few items and got in a car heading north toward the oil fields and his son Nick can’t get any closer than Edmonton as he makes his way home from a vacation.
