Nova Scotia Woman Loses Everything In Fort McMurray Fire

It’s been a devastating couple of days for one former Nova Scotian in Fort Mac.

Like many others Trish Henneberry moved west after college, got a job and got engaged.

Now she says her entire future has gone up in smoke.

“Who wants to get married when they own a hamper and a suitcase of clothes,” she says. “I mean, you want to build a life and right now we don’t have that.”

Now her home is gone and there’s no word about whether she’ll have a job to go back to once the fire is out.

“It just keeps playing over and over in my mind. Why didn’t I grab this or why didn’t I grab that. I think in a way I thought I was going to be able to come back.”

Henneberry says she isn’t sure what to do next.

For now she says she’s grateful to the emergency workers who’ve gotten over 80,000 people out alive, but she isn’t sure how to begin piecing her life back together.
