Blooming Celebration Gets The Go-Ahead

Third time’s the charm for the Spring Bloom Festival in Bridgewater.

At least that’s what Councillor Jennifer McDonald is hoping for.

The event has been cancelled twice, once for weather and once because there were no blooms to celebrate yet.

Now, McDonald says they’re ready to see the glory of 1,400 tulips planted last fall.

“We’ll be selling some cut tulips, so you can take a piece of the celebration home with you,” she says, “there will be some kids crafts and just a really good time for the community to gather and celebrate spring.”

The tulips commemorate Canada’s role in ending the conflict in the Netherlands 70 years ago.

The event is Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
