Premier Keeps Lunch Date With Local Girl

A surprise campaign stop for Liberal leader Stephen McNeil.

The premier dropped into the Bridgewater McDonalds Wednesday to support McHappy Day and to take a special guest out to lunch.

Nine-year old Hailey Rodenhiser finished her last round of chemotherapy last month.

McNeil wanted to be there but was in Cape Breton that day.

So he made up for it with a lunch date.

“Hailey and I met last year at McHappy Day and we promised we would go on a date once good health returned for both of us, so this is our date.”

Hailey’s mother Jaunita says they met the premier at McHappy day last year.

“We went over to represent the Ronald McDonald House when we were staying there, ’cause we just happened to be there.”

McNeil also spent time yesterday with candidates in Shelburne, Liverpool and Chester.

Proceeds from McHappy Day go towards Ronald McDonald House and support children and their families across the country.
