Lunenburg County’s long history of sport is going to be showcased this fall.
A Wall of Fame recognizing excellence in sports will be created at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
The piece of history is being brought to life by the newly-formed Lunenburg County Sport Heritage Society.
Co-chair Carroll Randall says the society will rely on financial grants and donations.
“We’re looking at, for the first year, a substantial amount of money to get the wall up and do our first inductees.”
Randall is hoping they can raise enough money to cover the costs of the 2018 inductions as well.
Coaches, players, teams, and builders will be featured on the Wall of Fame, which will be located inside the Clearwater Seafoods Arena.
“Somewhere around the walking track, we haven’t settled on an exact place yet. The lobby isn’t conducive to putting something like this up and being able to maintain it over the years.”
The wall will be unveiled on November 5.
