A fire ban is in effect for Lunenburg and Queens counties.
The Department of Natural Resources fire index is extreme in the two areas.
The ban went into effect yesterday afternoon due to the recent dry conditions.
A number of woods fires were reported over the long weekend in Mahone Bay, Shelburne and Sable River.
The ban is also in effect in Hants, Kings and Halifax counties.
Shelburne and Yarmouth counties are under a burning restriction.
People living in those areas can only burn between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.
