Bridgewater Pooch Park Almost Ready To Open

The wait is almost over for Bridgewater dog owners patiently waiting for the off-leash park to open on Glen Allan Drive.

The park was supposed to open last year, but it was discovered that some of the soil purchased by the town was contaminated and had to be removed.

After an extra year, the South Shore Vet Dog Zone is a little more than a month away from opening.

Spokesperson Patrick Hirtle says they’re just waiting for the grass to take.

“Recognizing that dogs are playful and energetic, they’re going to be in there and that turf is going to take a beating. So, we really wanted to make sure that if we were going to seed the park and have the grass grow in there that it was going to be done properly and it was going to be done to last.”

Hirtle says the park will also be great for people who can enjoy the view and a bit of nature.

The grand opening is planned for July 6.
