Hearing Date Set For SSRSB Judicial Review

A date has been set for a hearing to see if there’s enough evidence to warrant a judicial review of the decision to close two South Shore elementary schools.

Parents of children from Pentz and Petite Riviere Elementaries want the school board to reconsider their decision to close the schools.

The school board says their lawyer has advised them the decision cannot be undone.

Education Minister Karen Casey has said the school board’s by-laws offer them an avenue to change their decision, but has left it in their hands.

A lawyer from the Attorney General’s office was there to observe, but says she won’t be participating in the proceedings.

The hearing is scheduled for September 7
